Divorce - our expertise can ease the pain
Divorce and separation need not be as bad as it seems
January is probably the busiest time for family lawyers. The beginning of a new year may well be the time when someone who has been in an unhappy marriage decides to make a fresh start. The extended Christmas and New Year holiday period can often be the "last straw".
Divorce can be a difficult and unpleasant experience, but it does not have to be and there are ways of reducing the tensions that inevitably arise and also keeping legal costs to a minimum.
Unfortunately, the legal process is outdated and sometimes makes an already difficult situation even worse. Before deciding how to deal with things it is well worth taking legal advice as to the options open to you which do not necessarily mean that the Court has to be involved.
The family team at Gilbert Stephens is able to offer alternatives to contested Court proceedings, such as mediation and/or the collaborative law approach. Of course, if matters cannot be resolved, we can also help you through the Court process and try to keep stress to an absolute minimum.
If you would like to know more please contact Terry Bastyan or Jessica Burgess who will be pleased to see you for an initial 30 minute discussion during which they will try to identify the issues that need to be dealt with and suggest how you can best do so.
