Gilbert Stephens Sponsors Tar Barrels
Gilbert Stephens's office in Ottery St Mary was pleased to sponsor this years Tar Barrels event held in the town on Saturday, 05 November.
Elizabeth Govier, Solicitor and office manager, hosted a wine and nibbles evening for friends of the Carnival and Tar Barrel committee. Guests enjoyed aerial views of the spectacular annual event whilst listening to committee member, James Goddard, who gave an interesting talk on the history of Tar Barrels.
In the week before Bonfire Night, Gilbert Stephens also displayed the winning Guy from the annual Guy Fawkes competition held on Carnival Crowning day which is organised and judged by the Carnival Committee. The Guy, carefully crafted by children from the Hardwick family, took pride of place in the solicitor's office window on Broad Street, before being used to ceremoniously light the town's enormous bonfire.
