Paul was born in 1951 and brought up in Exeter. He went to Exeter School and then to the University of East Anglia in Norwich, where he read English and Philosophy. After graduating he studied at the College of Law in Guildford and following articles at Gilbert Stephens he was admitted as a Solicitor in July 1978. He became a partner in the firm in July 1980 and managing partner in 2003.

He specialises in commercial property work and deals with private client matters. Paul also supervises the firm’s Financial Services Department and Accounts Team.

He married Jane in 1978 and lives in Clyst St Mary, just outside Exeter. They have two adult sons, Joe a software engineer and Pete who teaches English.

Paul has maintained close ties with Exeter School and helps to host their annual sixth form interview scheme each autumn at the firm’s offices in Exeter. He is Secretary of Broadclyst Rifle Club and a long term member of Exeter Gymnastics Club. He enjoys listening to rock and folk music, watching rugby, reading, walking and exercising.
